Experience
Renegotiated back to hands-on after a reorg — a remit spanning leadership, product spec, cross-stack build, and comms across every team, with a push to double down on more production-grade AI exploration.
- Set early specs and architecture, then build alongside the team across the stack.
- Reopened AI tooling from mandate to per-team choice (Cursor → Claude Code).
- Spread context and drive consensus so cross-team decisions actually stick.
- Hands-on across UI, GraphQL APIs, and the data and CQRS layers behind them.
Grew from senior engineer to director, scaling the UI org while migrating a large app off AngularJS from the inside out.
- Built a React/Redux bridge to drop React into Angular at any level of the app.
- Retired AngularJS piece by piece for a Vite build, with no release pauses.
- Owned the UI from under 100 users to 5k+ weekly, most of them power users.
- Hired and led the UI team through Series B and beyond.
Owned design and front-end for CrossLink, a threat-investigation platform used by agencies and enterprises.
- Product owner and tech lead across four major API and GUI iterations.
- Built a GUI over their REST API and CLI — usable without writing code.
- Grew with the company from ~15 to ~50 while it stayed flat and fast.
UI Engineer (Fitch Ratings) and UI intern (Center for Technology in Government) — see gregvenech.com. Before getting into tech, I waited tables, washed dishes, built furniture, delivered newspapers, and worked in a library.
